Arfa Karim Randhawa-The youngest Microsoft Certified Professional

Arfa Karim Randhawa (1995-2012)

Arfa Karim was the first youngest Microsoft certified professional in the world. She was born on February 2, 1995 in a village of Chak No.4JB Ram Dewali , Faisalabad,Pakistan. Her father name was Abdul Karim Randhawa. She was a Pakistani student and computer prodigy. She had done great work in the computer field. Information Technology Field becoming prominent in the Pakistan. Pakistan software technology is becoming latest and high in the Pakistan. Software housing is becoming prominent in the Pakistan it is the need of the time. Day by day, it provides us ease.

Arfa represented Pakistan on various international forums i.e. TechED Developer Conference. At the age of nine, She was the youngest Pakistani student of Microsoft Certified Professional. Arfa gave many television and newspaper interviews She attained many awards in this age. She received President Award “Pride of Performance”. She was invited by the Pakistan Information Technology Professionals Forum for the stay of two weeks in Dubai. A dinner was arranged for her there, which was attended by the different ambassadors of Pakistan. She was awarded by many gifts including laptop. She was the only Pakistani among 5000 developers in that conference.
On 2 August, 2005 she was presented with the Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of science and technology by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz. She presented with the Salaam Youth Pakistan Award again in 2005 from the President of Punjab.

Bill Gated Chairman of Microsoft impressed with the Arfa Karim’s work .And he invited her to visit there. S Somasegar, the vice President of Microsoft Software development division, wrote about her in her blog. Arfa was made brand ambassador of Pakistan Telecommunication Company’s 3G Wireless Broadband Service EVO in January 2010. In 2011, Arfa Karim was studying in Lahore Grammar School Paragon Campus. On 22 December 2011, she suffered a cardiac attack, that damaged her brain and she was admitted in Lahore’s Military Combined Hospital in critical condition. Bill Gates contacted her parents and offering that he would pay every kind of measure for her treatment. Local doctors dismissed the option of moving Arfa to another hospital and kept her in ventilators. On 13 January 2012, Arfa started to improve and some parts of her brain show improvement.

On 14 January, 2012 she died at the age of 16. Software Technology Park is the Country’s largest information and communication Technology Park. Later it, it was given name Arfa Karim technology Park (ASTP) built in 2009 by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
