The Royal Mosque History

Badshahi Mosque is also known as “Emperor Mosque”. It is situated near Minar-e-Pakistan and in front of Shahi Qila (royal Forte) in Lahore Pakistan. It was authorized by the sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1671 and it was completed in 1673. It is the city’s best Landmark and visiting place in Lahore. Many tourists visit there. It is also famous for its beauty. It has 3 Dome and 4 Minarets. Its Minarets height is 54m. At the same time it is capable of accommodating over 55,000 worshippers, and it is the second largest Mosque in Pakistan after Faisal Mosque in Islamabad and fifth largest Mosque in the world. The Badshahi Mosque design is closely related to Jama Masjid in Delhi, Pakistan, which was created in 1648 after Aurangzeb’s Father death, Emperor Shah Jahan. This Mosque is entirely made up by the Red Stones. Its construction is very unique Eastern type. Its architecture is a mixture of Islamic, Persian and central Asian design.

The Great Badshai Mosque

After the Independence of Pakistan in 1947, Lahore became a part of Pakistan so Badshahi Mosque with it. It has the beautiful entrance and has a small museum inside the main entrance established by the government of Pakistan. In the rooms above the entrance gate are kept the Hairs of Hazrat Mohammad SAW and other relics of His daughter and HIS son in law. In a room beside the gate is an exhibition of 30 embroiled Quran. It has seven compartments in which three double domes have beautiful curvature and rest of the compartments have curvilinear domes and a flat roof above. It has sacred ancient objects of our Prophet Mohammad SAW and HIS son his law Hazrat Ali R.A and His Daughter Hazrat Fatimah R.A.

Just on the other side of Badshahi Mosque, there is the Tomb of great Muslim Scholar Allama Mohammad Iqbal. Allama Mohammad Iqbal is also known as Poet of the East. He was the real thinker behind the Pakistan movement. His aim was the Independence Muslim State. He was born on 9 November 1877 and died on 21 April 1938. Inside the Mosque .almost all colors of painting is used in its design. The Mosque is majestic in its expression.
