Richard Nixon, the U.S president (1913_1994).  Richard Nixon is remembered as the only one American President ever to resign from office. Nixon steps down in 1974, through his second term. Rather than face disparaged for his efforts to fill up the illegal activities by the member of his administration in the Watergate scandal, He is the former Republican Congress man and U.S senator from the California. He served two times as a vice president under Dwight Eisenhower in the 1950s. He lost his bid for the presidency in a close race with Johan F. Kennedy, He ran for the White House again in 1968. His achievements as a president included foreign diplomatic ties with the China and Soviet Union, and evacuating U.S troops from an infamous war in Vietnam. However his legacy and deepened American suspicion about government has been deteriorated in the Watergate Scandal.

Richard Nixon Was born on January 9, 1913, in Yorba Linda, California. His father, Francis Anthony Nixon had a grocery store and gas station, his mother Hannah Nixon was the House Wife.  Richard Nixon felt on his childhood that his parents, displeasure with their businesses and developed a strong ambition. After secondary education he attended Whittier College, where he competed as a debater and was elected as a president of the student body before the graduating in 1934. He got a law degree in 1937 from the University of Duke, after law he returned to Whittier, California, and started work as an attorney.  He married with Thelma Catherine “Pat Ryan” in 1940. He had two daughters, Patricia and Julie. He joined U.S Navy when America caught in World War II (1939-1935); he served as an operations officer in the Pacific. After the World War II Nixon Started his political career in 1946 when he defeated a five time Democratic Obligatory to represent his California district In the U.S House of Representatives. He served on the House UN- American Activities Committee as a congressman and rose to national prominence by leading a controversial investigation of Alger Hiss, a well – known former State Department Official who was accused of discerning for the Soviet Union in 1930s.Nixon was re -reelected Congress in 1848 and two years later, he won a seat in the U.S. Senate in 1950.

When Dwight D. Eisenhower decided to run as the Republican Party’s candidate for President in 1952, he needed a running mate. Nixon’s anti-Communist position and his strong base of support in California made him an ideal selection for the position. In 1968, Richard Nixon became the Republican candidate for President with Spiro Agnew as his Vice President. He defeated Democrat Hubert Humphrey and American Independent George Wallace. Nixon received 43% of the popular vote and 301 electoral votes. In 1972, he was the obvious choice for denomination with Agnew as his running mate again. He was opposed by Democrat George McGovern. He won with 61% of the vote and 520 electoral votes.

After Richard Nixon resigned on August 9, 1974, he retired to San Clemente, California. In 1974, Nixon was pardoned by President Ford. In 1985, Nixon mediated a dispute between major league baseball and the umpire association. He traveled extensively. He also provided advice to various politicians including the Reagan administration. He wrote about his experiences and foreign policy. Nixon died on April 22, 1994.
