Glenn Donald McGrath was born in 9th February 1970 and is a retired legendary Australian Fast Bowler.He remained commentator for Channel Nine’s cricket coverage also. He was fast paced bowler with medium and fast deliveries. He was the greatest bowler in the cricket history. He was known for maintaining  the accurate line and length for the rest of his career. He is the all time record holder of fourth highest wicket taker in cricket. He was known for as a most dangerous Australian bowler. He was finest among Anil Kumble, Shane Warne and Dennis Lilly. Ricky Ponting admired him as Captain when he was devastating against every team.

His first wife was a British flight attendant. His wife Jane died of cancer due to complications in operation. Glen met Sara Leonardi in the IPL in 2010 and got married on 18th Novemeber.

Cricket Career

Glen was born in Dubbo. He grew up in New South Wales, where he first played cricket and moved to Sydney. His test debut was in Newzealand in 1994.In the Ashes series 2005 he became the fourth bowler in the history to take 500 wickets. In Ashes, Australia beat England in the series for 5-0 and Glen bowled well. He took a break from world cricket in 2006 but came back for ICC Champions trophy in 2006.

Later Australia won the Ashes series and Glen took 21 wickets.He performed very emotionally at the SCG where he started his career.His height was 195 cm  that gave him an advantage over batsmen.He played his last test against  England on  2 January 2007. He also played his last ODI against Sirilanka in  28 April 2007 .He used the shirt No11 in ODIs as he used to bat No 11 usually for Australia.

Retirement

He got retired in 23 December 2006.His last test was fifth against England.He took a wicket on the last ball of his test career. After 2007 world cup, Glen had also retired from all forms of International Cricket. He was the player of the tournament in 2007 world cup.

Post Retirement

Glen joined IPL after the international retirement and was a part of Dehli Dare Devils in 2008. He claimed $35,000 for that tournament. He was the most economical bowler in Dehli in 2008. He did not play a single match in the next IPL held in South Africa and was just included for strengthening the Daredevil team. That was surely the end of his cricket career.

Playing Style

However Glen was a medium pace fast bowler, but his brain was so focused on each delivery. He was devastating on fast Australian pitches as well as on Sub Continent pitches. His career was successful for his fitness through hard work. Brian Lara was his 300 victims in the international game. He also completed his Hat Trick against West Indies.

Glen was a quick outfielder. He had a strong and accurate arm for throwing in the deep.He could dive also and used his body well for stopping runs.Glen took some great catches in the cricket history.

Glen also has a McGrath Foundation which supports education and breast cancer victims. He did it in the memory of his wife Jane who died of breast cancer.
