Gregory John Norman was born in born 10 February 1955 who is Australian professional golfer and entrepreneur. He remained 331 weeks as the world’s Number 1 Official World Golf Rankings. He won the Open Championships in 1986 and 1993. He had blonde hair and was aggressively stylish in his playing. He was also called the great shark in his career.He was 6 feet tall and had 82 kg weight. He married Laura Andrassy and Kristen Kutner. He became professional golf player in 1976.

Early Life

Norman was born in Queensland Australia and he was the son of an electrical engineer. He loved cricket and rugby in his young age and was a good surfer. He started his career in 1975 and won for first time at West Lakes. He was included in European tour in 1977 and had his first victory in European golf in the same season.

Golf Career

He had a great golf victory in 1980 in the French Open. He won in the same fashion in British Masters in 1981 and joined the US PGA tour in the same year. He finished as a runner up in PGA tour amazing all the fans with his skills and young age. In 1984 he won the PGA tour and won by five strokes. He also won the US open in the same year and became world famous golfer.

In 1985 Norman won the Toshiba Australian PGA Championship and National Panasonic Australian Championship. The 1986 slam was known as the Norman’s Slam when he amazed the world with leading in all 54 holes. His hitting and putting the ball in the hole was magical. At Shinnecock Hills in 1986 again he hit the 54 holes. He remained consistent in all four majors in 1986. Since the days of Bobby Jones in 1930, the Norman was the first player to astonish the world after Bobby. By the end of 1986 Norman was officially the No1 player in the Golf ratings.

In 1987 Masters, he had a tie for the 72nd hole. He came up a little short by coming up with the birdie effort and missing the hole. In the year 1988, Norman had four wins in Australia. In the US Open in 1988, Norman tore his wrist and became medically unfit and withdrew himself from the tournament.Norman played in 1989 and had another chance at major in 1989. He missed the cut at the masters in 1990 but won the Doral Rydar Open by leading with 54 holes.

In 1991 Norman missed the Masters tournament and turned to a world renowned coach Butch Hamon. Norman needed some mechanical help for his swing problems. They together made it possible for Norman to win the 1993 Royal St. George second major.Norman also had a victory in 1993 PGA Championship. In 1985 at the Player’s Championship, Norman again took a 54 hole lead at the US Open. He came into 1996 Masters Tournament after already winning the Doral Ryder Open.

In January 1997 Greg Norman won his most highest check of the game so far.He won one million dollars when he won the Anderson Consulting Championship and defeated Scott Hoch.  After that he won two more tournaments in 1997 as they also proved to be his final victories in a PGA tour. Norman had hip and shoulder injuries in 1998 and missed that year mostly in major tournaments. Norman battled Jose Maria in 1999 on the final day.

In 1998 Presidents Cup Australia Norman faced Tiger woods and they played a close match with Woods winning the match 1 up. By 2005 Norman was 50 years old but still going strong. He developed other interests therefore played less gold.In 2009 Norman played in the Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club.

Legacy

Norman was the only player to win more than 1 million 5 times in US PGA. According to an interview with Norman in 2004, he said “I just wanted to be as good as I could be. I work hard, I push myself hard, and I probably even expect too much of myself.” He was included in the Golf World Hall of Fame in 2001. He was the BBC Sports personality of the year in 1986. He won the Old Tom Moris Award in 2008. In 2015 Norman said that a best Golfer in the world can have 15 top years to his credit and he felt that with the Tiger Woods appearance in the game, his best days were diminishing. He was definitely the best driver of Golf ball in the history of the game. He was attacking and bold. Norman has a hobby of fishing he does lots of Charity work with his Greg Norman Gold Foundation. In April 2014 Norman performed some broadcasting services for the Gold in 2014. The channel was sky sports. He also wrote and released his personal autobiography in 2006 with the name of The Way of the Shark.

Marriages

Greg Norman had developed a romantic relationship with an English Television Presenter Sue Baker. He met Laura Andrassy with American flight attendant and they got married in 1981. They have two children Morgan and Gregory. In September 2007 Norman had announced his second marriage with former tennis champion Chris Evert.But on October 2009 they got separated and are still friends supporting each other’s families.
