Parent and Family

Naguib Mahfouz was born on 11 December 1911 into a lower middle class family in Gamaleyya quarter of Cairo. Naguib father was civil servant whom for once he mentioned him as Old fashioned. His family was consisted of seven siblings (five brother and two sisters) in which He was the youngest son of his family. His family lived initially in Gamaleyya but later on they were moved to El-Abbaseyya on 1924.

Education and early life Inpisration

Naguib in his early life remains under strong influenced of Egyptian Revolution. During childhood His mother often took him to Museum and Libraries. That why he was adopt Egyptian history theme in his work. He was graduated from King Fouad University Cairo on 1934 which is now renowned as University of Cairo. Apart from his formal education He was extensively studied and remains inspired from Hafiz Najib, Taha Hussein and Salama Mousa. He was a student of philosophy with majors. After completing His master Naguib start writing and adopt it as profession. He starts working as writer and journalist at er-Risala and to l-Hilal and al-Ahram. Nagaib was a active socialist and hang under influenced of Fabian society and very well know socialist journalist Salama Mousa .

work and Creations

As extensive Naquib apprehended his study same as he wrote extensively. He wrote more than 33 Novels, 350 short stories dozens of movies scripts and plays and a long remember speech which he delivered during the ceremony of Nobe prize award. Naguib was awarded with Nobel Prize of Literature in 1988. He also has credit for Arad literature that first person that acclaimed Arabic literature internationally which also He mentions in his speech as:

“The Nobel Prize has given me, for the first time in my life, the feeling that my literature could be appreciated on an international level. The Arab world also won the Nobel with me. I believe that international doors have opened, and that from now on, literate people will consider Arab literature also. We deserve that recognition”
