Narendra Damodardas Modi born 17 September 1950 who is the current Prime Minister of India. He is the 15th prime minister of India. He has been in the office of PM since May 2014. He is the leader of a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has also remained the Chief Minister of Gujrat from 2001 to 2014 and a member of Indian Parliament. The BJP party in Lok Sabha took the majority. His party has reformed and strengthened India since then.
He was born in Gujrat. He used to sell tea with his father. He ran a tea stall himself . He completed his higher secondary education in Vadnagar in 1967. He was a gifted debator and his speeches were noted by public. Modi performed some good characters in the theatre as well. He met founding members of BJP in 1980. He left his home due to tentions in the family in 1967. He lived in the Hindu Ashrams in the West Bengal and Assam. He lived in the canteen with his uncle later.
In 1988, Modi was elected organising secretary of the party’s Gujarat after he was assigned to BJP by RSS in 1985. He took charge of party activities in Haryana and Himachal Pardesh. The BJP lost seats in the elections in 2001.The reason was their poor administration, corruption and abuse of power. The Leadership chose a new leader Modi as their new Chief Minister. After coming to power, he On 3 October 2001 replaced Patel as Chief Minister of Gujarat.Modi was in favor of privatization and small government. He took his oath in 2001 October.
In 2002 , Modi government imposed a curfew in the major big cities of India due to the mass killing of people. The violence attacks were increasing which declined human rights. Modi had to face a challenge to control the state terrorism. In his second term which spanned from 2002 to 2007,The Hindu muslim issues were created in his reign but Modi receieved a lot of critism from the people.
He kept his issue on economic problems of India during that second term. Before the 2007 elections, Modi criticized the prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his poor efforts to end the terrorism in the country. He said anti- terrorism has not been applied carefully.By December, By December 2008 500,000 structures were built in India as the water levels in Gujrat has been falling.
The Modi government bought electricity and changed the conditions to a better level. The system was introduced for farmers and reduced the cost of electricity.His third was a good effort towards the economical issues in India. Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections were held in 2012 but he was not elected as Prime Minister before 2014 general elections. Although he had played a big role in 2009 and 2012 elections. The latest elections were named by CNN as “India’s first social media elections.
Modi took the oath of Prime Minister on 26 May 2014 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He had 45 ministers in his cabinet. His government is doing efforts for direct foreign investments in June 2015, “Housing for All By 2022” project was launched by Modi to provide shelter for large number of homeless or poor people of India who cannot afford their own house. His government is doing great efforts for promoting rural education and construction of toilet in less developed areas. They have projects to build a better severage system as well.
