Nazia Hassan, Great Asian Female Pop Singer

Nazia Hassan was an icon of the Pakistani music industry, she was introduced to Feroz Khan who ask for Nazia to sung song his next Indian Film Qurbani , by Indian-British songwriter and composer, Biddu, and after that there was no retreat from further prominence. Nazia was took peak to fame with the song “Aap Jaisa Koi” which she sang for an Indian film titled Qurbani. She was won a Filmfare Award for the Best Female Playback for this film and later her association with Biddu enabled her to produce her debut album titled Disco Deewane which was charted in fourteen countries worldwide and became an icon of Asian Pop music. The Government of Pakistan has conferred upon Hassan the highest civilian award Pride of Performance. The award was presented to Hassan’s mother, Muniza, by the President of Pakistan in an official ceremony held at Islamabad on 23 March 2002.

Early Life and Educaiton:

Nazia was the rising pop star of the 80’s. She was born in 3rd April 1965 in a Muslim family in Karachi. Most part of her life, she lives and spent in London. Nazia father Basir Hassan was business man ans his mother Munizeh Hassan was a social worker. They has two sibling, both of them were singer. Zohaib was his brother, who is also singer and went on to sell over 60 million records worldwide. He and his sister Nazia , produced phenomenal songs and out of the box videos; something that nobody had thought of in those early days of Pakistani pop music. Nazia was educated in 1991 in Business Administration and Economics from Richmond American University in London. After her graduation, she became intern in woman’s international Leadership program at the United Nations. Later on she went on to work for United Nation’s office of Political and Security Council Affairs. Nazia Hassan held a London University law degree LLB.

Divorce and Death

She was married with a business man Ishtiaq Beg on 30 March 1995. Two years later in 7 April 1997, she was blessed with a son Arez. But the she was divorced just 10 days before of her death. She was died with Lungs Cancer in 13 August 2000 in a hospital of London at the of thirty five. Nazia was buried at Hendon Cemetery, Muslims Section in London. Later after her death in some interview, her brother revealed that she was died as unhappy person.
