Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was a Pakistani musician and singer. He was devotional to mystic music of primarily to qawwali. Qawwali is Persian originated of 12th-century, whose lyrics were based on medieval Sufi poems. He is first renowned as qawwal then musician. Nusrat was the first Pakistani musician who presents the traditional mystic music to international levels. Nusrat has honor that he brought qawwali out from sub- content, into the world. He was such a qawwal that musician like Peter Gabriel was influences from him through his muic he exploded in Great Britain and the U.S. for a times

Birth and Early training:

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was born on 13 October, 1948 in Lyallpur current known as Faisalabad. His father; Fateh Ali khan was also a singer. He was trained by his parents in tradition form of music, which is considers as training of centuries years old. His father Ustad Fateh Ali Khan and two of his uncles Ustad Mubarik Ali Khan and Salamat Ali Khan were famous qawwals who sang in the classical form. His first public performance came in 1971, two years after the death of his father. After the death of his father, Nusrat was started singing with his uncles. In just few years, he was established himself throughout Pakistan as qawwal of his generation. Getting more matured is his performer, Nusrat made various adjustments to his styles, as a means to elevate qawwali to a new level of aesthetic and spiritual resonance with contemporary and international audiences.

Music at International Level:

In 1985 Nusrat was performed a concert in the United Kingdom, though which his music of began to spread around the globe. Soon after he gave regular throughout to Europe. In 1989, He first toured the United States, and in the 1990 he contributed to the sound tracks of several popular films. Nusrat also worked with a number of internationally recognized figures in popular and art music. Popular musician Peter Gabriel promoted Nusrat on the world music circuit, festivals and through recordings on his Real World Records, meanwhile, composer Michael Brook helped increase the accessibility of Nusrat’s vocalizations by recasting them within Western rhythmic frameworks.

Death and Funeral:

Nusrat was died suddenly in 1997; He was ill patient of liver and kidney failure. Although he was arranged for treatment of kidney transplant from United States, but cause of death was cardiac failure. His death was left mourned by fans across the globe. He was buried in his parental graveyard where he is rest in peace.
