Taj Mahal -The Symbol of Love

Taj Mahal is one of the seven Miracles of the world. Agra is famous for Taj Mahal, and it is located near the river Yamuna in Uttar Pardesh, city of India. After the decline of Mughal Empire, the city went under the influence of the Marathats and Jads and started to be called as Agra. It is the world’s beautiful place to visit. Taj Mahal add a soul in its magnificence, a soul that is filled with love, loss, repentance and love again. It is also known as symbol of love, because if it were not for the love, the world would not have a fine example upon people base their relationships. This is story of a man who deeply loved his wife a lot even after her death. And he made sure that his memory would never fade away. And this man was the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan who was head-over-heals in love to his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Shah Jahan belongs to Mughals family and Mughals were famous for their love of architecture. Taj Mahal, Agra fort and Fatehpur Sikri were constructed by Mughal’s family between the period 15th and 16th centuries. Shah Jahan was the son of Mughal Emperor and also the grandson of Akbar.

Jahangir Mumtaz Mahal was the Muslim Persian princess. Before marriage her name was Arjumand Banu Begam. At the age of 14, Shah Jahan met with Mumtaz Mahal and fell in love with her. In 1612, after five years they got married. In 1631, the construction of Taj Mahal started. Artisans, carvers, painters Dome-builders were called from the whole of the empire, from the central Asia and Iran and it took approximately 22 years for its construction which we see today. It was totally constructed with the white marble and it requires the services of 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants. The headstone is completely constructed with white marble which was brought in from all over the India and Central Asia. And after the expenditure of approximately 32 million rupees, Taj Mahal was finally completely in 1653.


The central tomb is the real beauty of the Taj Mahal which was built with white marble. Each minaret is 40 meters tall. Each minaret is divided into three equal working balconies which rings the Tower. Later, Taj was blemished by the British Soldier and Government.
Mumtaz Mahal died in 1631, while giving birth to their 14th child, it was built in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal as a tribute to her, which we today known as “Taj Mahal”.
