Yash Raj Chopra was born in 27 September 1932  and died on  21 October 2012) was an indian Film director, script writer and a producer. Yash Chopra began his career as an assistant director in late 60s. Then he was joined by his brother to make more successful hits in the 60s. Let us see his full biography.

Early Life

Yash Chorpra was born in Lahore in 1932. It was the British India at that time in the province of Punjab. He made his production company in 1969 called yash raj films. He went to Jalandhar to complete his college education. Then he moved to Ludhiana after the partition. He made Waqt movie in 1965 which became hit with Sunil Dutt as main role.

Film Career in indian Cinema

Waqt was the super star filled hit of that time with  Raaj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Sadhana, Balraj Sahni, Madan Puri, Sharmila Tagore, Achala Sachdev and Rehman.

Chopra produced  Kabhi Kabhie (1976)[4][6] followed by Silsila (1981), the famous films.  His film Mashaal(1984) was his first collaboration with the legendary actor, Dilip Kumar. A year later, he made Faasle. The romantic drama starring Sunil Dutt, Rekha, and Rohan Kapoor. That proved to be a good hit which added to his success. After the movie Trishul, Yash had become the leading director of the 80s. It was his first movie with the great heroine Siridevi. He was respobnsible for bringing back music into the movies rather than violence with Chandni. He also shot that movie in Switzerland which turned out to be a great success and trend setter for other directors as a lovely location for the shooting, Chandni got the national film fare award.

Immediately after Chandni, he did lamhe.  But it was not a box-office success in India. It became more popular in Pakistan and other Asian countires.

Later Career

Yash has the credit to give Shahrukh a role in the Darr movie in 1993 with new Juhi Chawla and that movie was the turnaround as well for Shahrukh’s career. Dil Wale Dulhania lejayenge was also hit great hit. The film was shot in India, London and Switzerland, from September 1994. It became the highest grossing Bollywood film of the year, It won 10 Filmfare Awards, the most for a single film at that time. The songs of that film are still popular despite over 20 years and they are stil played in marriages in sub continent.

His highly successful 1997 romantic musical Dil To Pagal Hai with Madhuri Dixit.It was the first Bollywood movie to be shot in Germany. It also won the 7 filmfare awards. He directed In 2004, the love saga Veer-Zaara.

Death and illness

His later career was  moderately successful after the seventees when a flood of glamorized films and new young blood had already changed the trend for Indian movies. Then after turning 80 years old, the Shahrukh khan collaborated with him to announce a movie Jab Tak Hai Jan. In the lush green meadows of Alps , he had been filming a scene with Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. At that time he had a dengue fever. Unfortunately he became very ill and the fever went worst which lead him to death. The Swiss tour was cancelled after his death.
